You may have arrived here because life feels heavy, confusing, or uncertain right now. Maybe you’re carrying something difficult, or you simply want space to breathe and make sense of how you feel.
Creative Wellbeing NI is a place where you can pause for a moment — where you don’t have to have all the answers.
Here, you’ll find understanding, kindness, and a quiet space to explore whatever you need to, in your own way and at your own pace.
Together, we can work towards easing the weight you carry and finding steadier ground beneath your feet.

Talking therapy offers a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgement. Together, we can make sense of what’s been happening, understand yourself more deeply, and find new ways forward. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, low mood, loss, relationships, grief or simply feeling stuck, counselling provides time that’s just for you — a space to be heard, supported, and understood.
A counselling option for those who prefer counselling by telephone or on-line. I have a safe confidential space that I work from to ensure the same level of safety and privacy you would receive in a face to face setting. You don't have to travel to be heard, Creative Wellbeing NI offers flexible, accessible counselling from where you are.
Are you the type of person that doodles help you as you talk? Do you like your hands being busy? These sessions offer you a gentle way to be creative in the counselling room.
You can express what may be too painful or complex to put into words or simply make something as you talk. I use my training in art and counselling to facilitate these sessions with care and expertise.
No art skills are necessary.
This is about giving your inner world a different voice in a safe supportive space. Together we use creativity as a tool in the session. It can help you uncover and make sense of what words alone can not or it can be a new therapeutic skill you learn and take with you outside of the counselling room.
Creative practice is a proven form of self-care that supports mental health and nervous-system balance. Studies have shown that engaging in art-making can reduce cortisol levels, improve mood, and enhance focus -.benefits that occur regardless of artistic skill.
At Creative Wellbeing NI, we combine this science with compassionate guidance, offering a safe space where the world slows down as you take time out to rediscover the soothing rhythm of the creative process. Whether through painting, collage, or gentle mark-making, art invites you to breathe a little deeper and find calm through creative expression.
Our therapy room is small but this makes it perfect for small group sessions. Take a creative pause with self care art sessions designed to calm the mind, ease stress, and reconnect you to joy. A gentle space to relax, reconnect, and explore art as self-care. No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to slow down and create together.

I completed a degree in Fine and Applied Arts after secondary school and have worked for many years in the community in various roles.
I added a foundation degree in Integrative Counselling training to my skill set and I am delighted to offer services in both Talk Therapy and Creative Counselling.
I am a professional member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
At Creative Wellbeing NI, I hope to bring a compassionate and integrative approach to emotional and psychological wellbeing.
I currently work with adults only.
Counselling for children will be available later in the year.

Creativity is an additional intervention I use (with client permission) This includes activities such as creative writing, art-making, journalling, and mindful reflection. To avail of creative counselling, it's important to know that you don’t need to be 'good at art' — it’s about expression, not perfection. Together, we create space to ease stress, build resilience, and nurture calm in both mind and body.

In my world, I view creative counselling and art-making as gentle companions that provide pathways for emotional healing and help us understand ourselves with kindness and curiosity. By integrating my Foundation Degree in Integrated Counselling Practice with my BA Hons in Fine & Applied Art, I aspire to offer clients the chance to reconnect with their inner calm, restore balance to the nervous system, and rediscover meaning through authentic self-expression, much like the principles found in talk therapy.

Hello my name is MaryTheresa.
Creativity has always been a part of my life. I have always liked making things, using my hands, exploring colour and materials.
When I experienced heart break in my younger years, I was introduced to the healing power of art and I fell in love with using it as a therapeutic tool.
I am passionate about the work I do. I believe we are all creative beings and it is an honour to provide a space for creativity and healing to work together.

Absolutely not. If you are creative that's great but if you are not, that's ok. This is a collaboration and a unique service. We work together and you will be guided as much or as little as you prefer.
Talk therapy sessions are £50 per therapeutic hour. Creative counselling sessions start at £50 per hour*
Art for self care sessions start at £50 per hour*
*If it is a longer appointment or if you have a specific project in mind it may be more expensive. This is due to art materials eg silk painting or large canvas work.
It depends on the individual. You will be advised of this and activities may be decided upon during the consultation or the initial session. Sessions can be booked in for a longer time if it's a one day appointment or over 6 weeks if is a journalling project that takes more time.
Where possible cancel 48 hours before your appointment. This means the appointment may be offered to someone on the waiting list.
Same day cancellation or failure to attend will incur a 50% charge.
Absolutely this is your therapeutic hour. You do what feels and works best for you.
Yes. I am registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and follow their ethical framework and professional development requirements to keep this registration. I am also a professional member of the Creative Counsellors who offer guidance and professional development throughout the year.
You may learn some new art techniques like being in art class but no. This is a therapeutic process from a qualified integrative counsellor. The art making is used as a tool to support mental and emotional wellbeing. There are many community art classes available for developing skills in art.
Popular projects are:
Memory boxes,
Art journalling,
Making affirmation cards,
Favourite quotes as paintings,
Favourite flowers
Abstract paintings using colours and mark making.
Projects are very individual. It's important that time for the work is considered and also that I work within my own range of skills too. So, for example, sculpture is not in my skill set so it won't be offered as a medium.
Not yet. It's important that I work ethically and within my competency as a counsellor. I will be completing my 'counselling children and young people' training this year so children's counselling will be available from June 2026.
